All CPCS operators who apply for a card from 2nd December 2019 will receive a digital card in return. This is because NOCN Jobcards have now launched the much awaited CPCS SMART cards! Here’s a list of some of the changes; New design with block colours to align with the current CSCS card design. New CPCS card number, this is bescuase the old CITB card numbers could not be transferred across to NOCN’s new system. New app, as the new cards are SMART cards! Therefore, when an individual ‘reads’ the card with their phone or tablet then they can see that the card is legitimate. This is to limit the number of fraudulent cards on site. CPCS are scheduled to release a new category in 2016 to cover the lifting and transport (pick & carry) of suspended loads with telehandlers using hook attachments. This has been an eagerly awaited endorsement owing to the confusion over using telehandlers with suspended loads on a number of sites. The Strategic Forum – Plant safety Group published a document outlining good practice when lifting and travelling with suspended loads using telehandlers. SFPSG-Guidance-Lifting-Suspended-Loads-with-Telehandlers-2014-05-16 Existing CPCS telescopic handler card holders will need to sit a theory and practical test to gain the A17E endorsement on their cards. 360 lifting ops (A59C) explained

I’ve come across a fair bit of confusion resulting from the recent 360 lifting endorsement for excavator tests. Here’s some information to help clarify. New Blue Cards If the candidate has achieved a Theory and a Practical test for A58/A59 A and/or B then lifting operations can be added to the card providing Practical A59C is achieved. Existing Blue Card Holders with Technical Tests but prior to 09/07/12 Can be awarded Endorsement C on application. Existing Blue Card Holders (No Technical Test) Those that wish to add Endorsement C must also achieve the corresponding Theory Test. A97 – Excavator 360 below tonnes – Lifting Operations Theory Only A98 – Excavator 360 above 10 tonne – Lifting Operations Theory Only Existing Red Card Holders – Post Technical Test Can be awarded Endorsement C on application. Existing Red Card Holders – No Technical Test Those that wish to add Endorsement C must also achieve the corresponding CPCS Theory Test.
