We’ve had a busy month training operators at the Falkland Islands for their CPCS Skilled Plant Operative cards.
This was our second visit to the Falklands, having previously trained a number of Crane Operators back in 2024. This time however, the focus was on Telescopic Handlers and Suspended Load training! All trainees had some previous telehandler operating experience, and as a result the course was focused around familiarisation and best practice, to ensure the CPCS SC17C/E standards could be met.
The 5 year CPCS Skilled Plant Operative card has been well received at the Falklands and is working well towards raising the standard of plant operators on the island. It is hoped that this scheme will be rolled out amongst other categories and will become an accepted standard for the whole of the Falklands.
A card scheme for plant operatives outside construction
The CPCS Assured Card Scheme was launched in late 2024 and is intended for non-construction type activities like manufacturing, logistics, distribution, agriculture, quarrying and engineering. This Skilled Plant Operative card is also popular with those wishing to adopt CPCS standards internationally.
