Plant operative of the year – CPA Stars winner and prize!

We were thrilled to welcome the CPA (Construction Plant-hire Association) Plant Operative of the year Reece Stray of L-Lynch Plant, to complete a CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme) course with us as part of the CPA Stars awards program.

CPA Stars has become the premier apprenticeship and trainees awards event – for plant occupations in the UK. he awards are intended to recognise and reward outstanding apprentices and trainees who not only bring ability and commitment to their learning and their work, but also possess those extra capabilities and attitudes which mark them out as being not only the foundations of the future of the industry, but also potentially its future leaders – the Stars of the Future.

The main awards categories include:
– Plant operative of the year
– Young plant operative of the year (under 24 years of age)
– Lifting technician of the year
– Plant installer of the year
– Apprentice mentor of the year
– Hire controller of the year
– Plant Mechanic of the year
– Plant technician

ACOP co-sponsor both Plant Operative and Young Plant Operative categories. The prize for the winners includes a prestigious JCB VIP visit to their World Headquarters followed by a CPCS training course on an agreed category of plant with ACOP Group.

It was a pleasure to welcome Reece to our Training Centre. He already had a host of categories on his CPCS card thanks to Lynch’s apprenticeship training programme, which included the 360 tracked excavator and lifting ops. He selected the wheeled excavator as his prize with us, and we spent three glorious days in the sun on our Takeuchi TB295W, which covers the CPCS category for above and below 10 ton wheeled excavators.

Reece was successful on his CPCS technical test at the end of the course, gaining top marks. I really enjoyed working with Reece – he showed a keen interest in all aspects of the machine and its applications. I felt he was a real ambassador for the construction industry, being confident, knowledgeable and respectful at all times. I wish him the very best in his future endeavours and sincerely hope our paths cross again.
