Here’s a view from the basket of a new Merlo Roto 40.26MCS Telehandler, during this weeks training course.
That is one mammoth tele handler! Or is it a MEWP cherry picker?

I have a red card telehandler ticket but would like to know how much it would cost to learn how to use a 360 telehandler please. can you email me please thankyou.
Merlo Roto 40.30 MCSS is the biggest For lift height band the Merlo Roto 60.24 MCSS is biggest lift capacity
You have any photos of the Roto in picture. Sure not a Roto 40.25 MCSS as no 26m are in UK
IPAF would come into effect while the basket , that a 300kg basket while on unit and controlled from basket. Ref PM28

Thanks for your comments Stephen. I’ve emailed you some pictures of our 26m (40.26MCSS) just to prove that they do exist in the UK.
Please don’t forget that CPCS also offer the Mobile Elevated Work Platform (Boom) category – covering workers whilst in the basket attachment.

If you have previously completed the CPCS Telescopic Handler (A17C) Technical test and NVQ. You will only need to complete the A17D practical test only on the 360 slew telehandler. This should then go straight onto your Blue card.
I have sent you some information via email.

Hi John, thanks for the enquiry.
Provided you already have the NVQ unit for the telehandler (VR387 or QCF387) then you should only need to sit the CPCS practical assessment on the rotary telehandler to gain the ‘All sizes – including 360’ endorsement! I’ll send you an email with some more detail.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for getting in touch this week. First thing, get your HS&E test (for operatives) completed somewhere closer to you and then I can book you for your practical test on the 360 slew tele handler. Despite having an abundance of experience on telehandlers – I would recommend a minimum of a days training to familiarise yourself with the controls and procedures involved with the operation of a 360 tele. As you already have a blue card on category A17C – there is no theory test involved.
There are plenty of B&B’s local to me that you may wish to take advantage of, some of which I’ve noted on my website.
I’ve sent you an email with further detail.
Thanks again,

on 12 February 2013 at 11:19 AM
Hi Paul,
Thanks for the enquiry.
If your blue card has expired for over 12months, then you’ll need to complete the CPCS theory test.
You’ll also need to prove you have a minimum of 300 hours operating experience recorded in your logbook and get it signed by a validator.
If you can’t prove the hours or have lost your logbook, then you’ll need to complete a CPCS practical test or On Site Assessment (OSA) with me. An OSA can be carried out at your place of work if you have access to plant or you could come to me.
I would do this soon, I’ve heard that CPCS are bringing in an additional test this year for blue card renewals. I don’t know much more at present but the will be an update in March/April to let us know what’s involved.
However, if you are looking to add the rotary telehandler category (A17D) to your card, then It might be worth you just completing a CPCS technical test (theory & practical) on this machine instead of renewing your blue card – as you should automatically get a blue card upon achievement!
I’ve sent you some more info via email.
Thanks,

on 13 March 2013 at 5:23 AM
Thanks for the enquiry this week.
Provided you already hold the CPCS A17C – telescopic handler (all sizes excluding 360 slew) endorsement on your blue card.
You will need only complete the practical assessment on the 360 slew telehandler (A17D).
Regarding the CSCS health and safety test, this will have needed to have been completed within the last two years – prior to me booking any CPCS test.
If you send me your CPCS registration number I can always check up you.
I have emailed you some costs and booking instructions.
Hi, jones! I have A17C Cpcs blue all sizes Exc. 360 slew, and A59A Excavator 360 below & above 10 tonnes tracked, Card, can i do a one day curse to gain the 360 slew i have used while back in cambridge & london, can you email me the price please and what need to to add the rotor to my ticket thanks, M.jalo.
Siôn Jones
on 25 March 2013 at 7:27 AM
Hi M.Jalo,
If you have the (A17C) telescopic handler – excluding 360 slew on your CPCS card. Then you’ll need to do the (A17D) CPCS practical test for the roto-handler to upgrade – this will then go straight to blue.
It is an independent category from the the excavator 360, although i’m sure with your experience – you’ll find the test pretty straight forward.
You can do a one day assessment if you wish, you’ll be given sufficient time to familiarise with the machine prior to your test.
I’ve sent you an email.
Thanks,
Siôn Jones
on 25 March 2013 at 7:41 AM
Hi Rodney,
Your CPCS (tele handler) card doubles up as a CSCS (health and safety) card. Therefore your CSCS is valid for as long as your CPCS card is.
Personally I would only be looking to sit the health and safety test if your card was about to expire or you were looking to add more categories to your licence.
Hope that helps.
Thanks

Hi Doug,
Another slew to your bow is good, but i think there’s boom(!) for improvement.
This is usually a single day course for people who already have the blue card on the telehandler.
The day will be split, with the morning is dedicated to some familiarisation on the machine and attachments, followed by the CPCS test in the afternoon.
I’m looking to get one in ASAP! How soon do you need it?
I’ve sent you an email with some additional info.
Thanks,

Siôn Jones
on 4 April 2013 at 7:42 PM
Hi Nick,
Unfortunately, cards can’t be converted from RTITB to CPCS or vice versa.
You’ll have to start from scratch by completing the CPCS technical test (theory and practical) and HS&E (health, safety and environmental test.
As far as i’m aware the only cards that can be converted to CPCS are MPQC (the old EPIC cards), the CPCS website states that;
‘CPCS has an agreement with the Materials Products Qualification Council (MPQC) that allows the holders of MPQC Cards to transfer certain categories onto a CPCS Trained Operator Card if they meet agreed requirements’.
Please let me know if i can be of further assistance.
Thanks,

I have an operative with a 360 telescopic handler up to 5 ton certificate. He was stopped working on it because he’s ticket does not state fixed boom or what catergorie A.B.C.D.
Is this correct
Siôn Jones
on 7 May 2013 at 4:59 PM
Hi Jason,
Thanks for getting in touch earlier. I hope I was of some help.
To reiterate;
If the certificate only states ‘360 slew up to 5 tonnes’, it’s not a card scheme i have come across. However, not all card schemes follow the CPCS A.B.C.D principle.
By CPCS the A17D is an all encompassing category, the card itself states ‘all sizes telescopic handler – including 360 slew’.
As most telehandlers are classified by the manufacturers according to their maximum height, the machines maximum (rated) capacity and whether it is rotary (360 slew) or a fixed boom type. A card scheme should therefore follow a similar principle.
With further regards to ‘up to 5 tonnes’, I would presume this means the machines rated capacity. However, there are very few telehandlers I have come across that lift over 5tonnes (with the exception of heavy lift/ high capacity Merlos) and certainly not 360 slew telehandlers – this could be dangerous because of their significantly higher lifting heights! For that reason, it seems like a very strange classification.
Like yourself I would investigate it further.
Thanks,

Hi Mark,
If you have the telehandler (all sizes excluding 360 slew) on your blue card, then i’d recommend a minimum of a days familiarisation on the machine prior to completing the CPCS A17D test. The actual CPCS test on the roto-handler is very similar to a standard telescopic handler test, so an experienced operator such as yourself should pick it up quickly. I have sent you some details via email.

Hi Ricardo,
Thanks for your enquiry.
Provided you already hold the CPCS A17C – telescopic handler (all sizes excluding 360 slew) endorsement on your red/blue card. You will be required to complete any necessary training to bring you up to speed with the machine and then the CPCS A17D practical assessment on the 360 slew telehandler to upgrade your card (no theory test required).
Your CITB health, safety and environmental test will also need to have been completed within the last two years. If you send me your CPCS registration number I can always check on this for you.

Josh,
Thanks for getting in touch.
Could you please give some more information relating to your experience on telehandlers? Do you already hold a card for the fixed boom telehandler? If so, is it CPCS ( i.e. A17C)?
If you have no previous experience on telehandlers i would recommend doing the standard telehandler course first, the 360 telehandler is different animal altogether, so some previous telehandler experience would be advantageous.
Same question with the shovel, have you any previous experience? I’ll get back to you some prices.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Sion
I want to do 360 slew licence in addition to “telehandler all sizes” that I already got. I’ve got two years experience driving telehandlers in UK and 5 years in Poland.
What is the cost, lenght of training, available dates? And where is the training held?

Tony,
Thanks for the enquiry.
Have you any prior experience on the 360 slew rotohandlers or do you already hold the A17C – Telescopic handler (all sizes excluding 360 slew) on a CPCS card?
We are based in South Wales.

Hi
I wonder if you can help I am looking for a Telehandler with 360 slew with suspended load category E for a Job i have in North East London.

on 30 June 2017 at 2:42 PM
Andy,
The 360 telehandler (A17D) and suspended loads (A17E) categories are a good combination for sure. Holding both would probably stand you in good stead for the future as both categories are increasing in popularity. There is no specific winch attachment under CPCS, although we could offer you some additional training on this if you wanted?
Let us know if you’d like a quote for this?
Thanks again,

Siôn Jones
on 9 August 2017 at 6:24 AM
Kriss,
Thanks for getting in touch.
With experienced telehandler operators we can offer a day’s course, which will involve training on a Merlo 360 ROTO in the morning and CPCS practical test in the afternoon. There is no theory test requirement for existing A17C cardholders.
The other option for experienced operators is a 2 day course, and this will include some training on the winch attachment.
The first option is normally the most popular for experienced operators and you’ll find that that the CPCS A17D test is pretty much identical to the standard telehandler test. However, I also offer the two day course, where you can gain a little time on the winch attachment working with a slinger which is good practice.
We also offer the new suspended load (A17E) test.
Let me know if you have any further questions?
Thanks again,

If you have previously completed the CPCS Telescopic Handler (A17C) Technical test and NVQ. You will only need to complete the A17D practical test only on the 360 slew telehandler. This should then go straight onto your Blue card.

But I want to get a 360 Telehandler, how much would
It cost me?and where would I get the relevant training ?
I’m based in Essex, could you steer me in the
Right direction?thanks Paul.
Hi Paul,
Thanks for getting in touch this week.
Thanks again,
Hi, could you send me some information on a17d courses and the cost please. I have a17 c at the moment and some experience on a roto.

hi henry
i ihave a cpcs telehandler blue card, which has expire a few years was wondering what was the procedure to get it back, was told would just need a day refresher?is this correct,
also could you send some info on ,all sizes with 360 slew, cost etc….
cheers paul.
Hi Paul,
Thanks for the enquiry.
Thanks,

When I’m next running a rotary telehandler course, I’ll happily fit you in for some familiarisation training.

All the best.
Prices for practical a17d Roto add on to blue cpcs all sizes
Hi I’ve been driving telescopic forklifts for over 10 years all sizes exc 360 slew but would like to no how much it would cost me and where to go to get the 360 slew added to my card thank you
i have my blue card telehandler all sizes, nvq how much would it cost to gain my 360 slew
Could you tell me is it true that if your blue telehandler card is still valid , and you do your touch screen again , when you renew your card that you have to do an extra test or is this extra test just for people who have let their card expire
Hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks,
Hi M.Jalo,
If you have the (A17C) telescopic handler – excluding 360 slew on your CPCS card.
Thanks,
Hi Rodney,
Your CPCS (tele handler) card doubles up as a CSCS (health and safety) card. Therefore your CSCS is valid for as long as your CPCS card is.
Personally I would only be looking to sit the health and safety test if your card was about to expire or you were looking to add more categories to your licence.
Hope that helps.
Thanks

hi Sion.
yet another person inquiring about A17 cat d info!

many thanks in advance for your help.

Hi buddy
I have the rtitb and cscs card for the telehandler buckets etc looking to do the a17d wit cpcs can this be converted ???
Regards
Hi Mick,
Now that you’ve completed the health and safety test. All that is left to do, is register onto a telehandler course and sit the CPCS technical test.
The next course will be in early May, please let me know if you are interested in reserving a place?
I have a few offers available at the minute, so i’ve sent you an additional email.
Thanks,
Hi Doug,
Another slew to your bow is good, but i think there’s boom(!) for improvement.
Thanks,
Siôn Jones
Hi Nick,
Unfortunately, cards can’t be converted from RTITB to CPCS or vice versa.
You’ll have to start from scratch by completing the CPCS technical test (theory and practical) and HS&E (health, safety and environmental test.
As far as i’m aware the only cards that can be converted to CPCS are MPQC (the old EPIC cards), the CPCS website states that;
‘CPCS has an agreement with the Materials Products Qualification Council (MPQC) that allows the holders of MPQC Cards to transfer certain categories onto a CPCS Trained Operator Card if they meet agreed requirements’.
Please let me know if i can be of further assistance.
Thanks,
I have an operative with a 360 telescopic handler up to 5 ton certificate. He was stopped working on it because he’s ticket does not state fixed boom or what catergorie A.B.C.D.
Is this correct
Hi Jason,
Thanks for getting in touch earlier. I hope I was of some help.
To reiterate;
Thanks,

Hi, hope you are fine. Good to see this post on your blog. Actually am thinking to take IPAF training. So yet have no idea just reading these types of post to educate my self before apply.
Hi Mark,
If you have the telehandler (all sizes excluding 360 slew) on your blue card, then i’d recommend a minimum of a days familiarisation on the machine prior to completing the CPCS A17D test. The actual CPCS test on the roto-handler is very similar to a standard telescopic handler test, so an experienced operator such as yourself should pick it up quickly. I have sent you some details via email.

Do you have any previous experience on 360 telehandlers or hold a current card under CPCS (or related scheme) for telehandlers? The more info you can give me, the easier it is to give you a quote.
Also, regarding the loading shovel what’s your level of experience?
I’ve sent you an email.
Hi i am telescopc forklift driver with over 10 years experiance i also hold 360 excavator ticket both are blue cpcs but i want to up grade my telehandler to include 17d 360 slew how much would this cost please thanks paul
Hi. Would like to kno the price of the 360 slew telehandler. I already have my cpcs for all sizes(telescopic handler)
Hi Ricardo,
Thanks for your enquiry.
I have sent you some additional info via email.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks,
I would like to know how much will cost me to do 360 telehandler ? I am looking to do and loading shovel as well
how much will it cost for me to do a 360 telehandler course as i have 13 years telehandler experience cpcs 0******* blue card with level 2 nvq
Josh,
Thanks for getting in touch.
Steve, thanks for getting in touch.
I’ve sent you an email with some info.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi
I wonder if you can help I am looking for a Telehandler with 360 slew with suspended load category E for a Job i have in North East London.
Is this the right ticket to be covered to use the Winch attachment on a 360 slew telescopic forklift.
Is this a rare Qualification?
Andy,
The 360 telehandler (A17D) and suspended loads (A17E) categories are a good combination for sure. Holding both would probably stand you in good stead for the future as both categories are increasing in popularity. There is no specific winch attachment under CPCS, although we could offer you some additional training on this if you wanted?
Let us know if you’d like a quote for this?
Thanks again,
Team ACOP
hello I HAVE A CPCS A17 SIZESexc360 BLUE CARD how much does it cost to gain 360 slew. with thanks Kriss
Kriss,
Thanks for getting in touch.
Thanks again,
Team ACOP
