Site safety training schemes with ACOP

Do you want to be a construction site labourer, supervisor or manager?

You will need safety training and a relevant certificate. ACOP are pleased to offer you the following to help you achieve your goal.

These are classroom-based courses, in contrast to the hands-on plant machinery training that we also offer.

Health and Safety Awareness: Site Safety Plus (one-day course)

This one-day introductory course for health and safety is for people who are new to the construction and civil engineering industries.

It teaches you the main health and safety issues on construction sites and how these affect your role.

It is also recommended as a Health and Safety refresher of knowledge after five years. It is one of the Site Safety Plus range of courses.

You will gain a CITB Site Safety Plus certificate.

At the end of the course you will have an understanding of:

  • Workers’ individual responsibilities for their own safety and the safety of others
  • Typical construction hazards and how these are controlled
  • How everyone can help achieve better practical standards of safety on site
  • Legal requirements and liabilities
  • Working at height
  • Manual handling
  • Fire prevention
  • Work equipment
  • Occupational health

It is endorsed by Build UK as the standard training for all supervisors working on Build UK sites and provides an understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues.

SSSTS Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (two-day course)

This course is for you if you’re considering, or already have, supervisory responsibilities.

It is endorsed by Build UK as the standard training for all supervisors working on Build UK sites and provides an understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues. It highlights legal responsibilities and the need to promote health and safety to supervise effectively.

At the end of the course you will have an understanding of:

  • health and safety law and how it applies to supervisors
  • your supervisory responsibilities in controlling site safely
  • risk assessments and the need for method statements
  • effective site inductions, toolbox talks and method statement briefings
  • monitoring site activities effectively
  • timely intervention when bad practice is identified

SSSTS-R Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme Refresher (one-day course)

This refresher brings your health and safety knowledge up to date, as well as giving you a thorough overview of the legislative changes and their impact in the workplace. It builds on the material in the original SSSTS course.

SMSTS Site Management Safety Training Scheme (five-day course)

This course is for you if you’re considering, or already have, responsibilities for planning, organising, monitoring, controlling and administering groups of staff e.g. site manager.

It covers all relevant legislation affecting safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. It highlights the need for risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of the necessary control measures and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture within the workforce.

This course is endorsed by Build UK as the standard training for all construction managers.

At the end of the course you will be able to:

  • implement all health, safety, welfare and environmental legislation affecting your daily work
  • implement new guidance and industry best practice
  • state your duties and responsibilities with regards to health, safety, welfare and the environment

SMSTS-R Site Management Safety Training Scheme Refresher (one-day course)

This refresher brings your health and safety knowledge up to date, as well as giving you a thorough overview of the legislative changes and their impact in the workplace. It builds on the material in the original SMSTS course.
